Digital Photos in the Classroom - Resource Page

ICT Applied Skills 1.1
It can be argued that learning Visual Literacy is equally as important as learning traditional literacy for today's students.  "A picture is worth a thousand words." The use of digital pictures amplifies this truth many times over. Most students know how to use a digital camera. However, using it well and with skill will be the focus of this workshop. After images are captured, the need arises to effectively manage those photos, enhance them, and repurpose them as learning objects. The use of digital cameras and Photo Management Software* will stimulate and motivate both students and teachers.

Teachers will learn:

  • how to use Photo Management Software to capture photos from cameras, scanners, and other sources
  • how to use Photo Management Software to create books, slideshows, photo galleries, and calendars
  • how to use these skills in their classroom with their students
  • how using digital imagery can energize and encourage students to learn
