Interactive Whiteboard Learning Community

The Interactive Whiteboard Learning Community met for a second time at Mouat Secondary School on Jan. 26th. We had a great hostess in Megan Warmerdam who also showed us how she uses her smart board in her Flash classes as well as how she integrates the "Clickers" for quick assessment and feedback. Deirdre DeGagne from Clayburn added information on the use of the Clickers in her Middle School Classroom. Karl Wodtke, from Rick Hansen Secondary, added a wonderful presentation on integrating the SmartBoard along with Flash and Keynote to create engaging lessons. Collin from Sharp's AV demonstrated the Document Camera and AverPen and to wrap things up, Paul Rochan shared from his expertise using the Wii and USB Tablets to provide interactivity in his learning assistance classroom at Mountain Elementary. All-in-all, it was a very informative and enjoyable session. Thank you to the presenters and to all those who attended.

NEWS:

We are preparing for some grade level "training" sessions. If you are interested in participating in learning and doing, please contact me. The first session will be for Primary teachers and will be limited to 6 participants to ensure hands on and direct instruction. From this group. we will try to provide more small group training.

We are also working with Sharp's AV to provide teachers with SmartBoard Level One certification. If you are interested in attending such a training session during the day (requiring you to book your TOC and use your ProD funds or have the school cover the costs of the TOC), please contact James Klassen at 604-807-0534 or at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
