Getting Started with Your Blackberry

Below here you will find some basic information.  Please refer to the Blackberry Curve 8310 Getting Started Guide or the blackberry_curve_8310_user_guide for more documentation.  (The information below can also be found in the Getting Started Guide).

  1. Voice Mail: Press and hold the 1 button on your phone.
  2. Speed Dial: Press and hold the key you want to assign the number.  Then select Yes and choose the contact from the list.  Once complete simply press and hold the key to call the number.
  3. Change Application Order: Go to Applications.  Have your cursor on the application you wish to move.  Press the Menu key.  Select Move.  Move it to the top or wherever you wish to move it.  Note that most themes will display the first 5 items on the front screen so you don't have to go to Applications to access them.
  4. Security Password: Go to Options > Security Options > General Settings >  Enable Password, change any options you wish on the list, then press the Menu key and save.
  5. Show/Hide your phone number when you call others: Select Options > General Options > Change Restrict My Identity to Yes
  6. Assign an Application to a Convenience Key: Open up Options.  Choose Screen/Keyboard. Set up the Convenience Key Opens fields.  Press the Menu key.  Save
  7. Edit your ring/alert options: Open up the icon on your screen that looks like a speaker (Profiles).  Choose Advanced at the bottom.  Choose the profile you would like to edit (ie. Normal).  Choose what the item you would like to change (ie. Phone).  Make any changes, press Menu, and Save.
  8. Speakerphone: While on a call click the Trackball and choose Activate Speakerphone.
