iPhoto: Burning a CD of Photos

Often you want to burn a disc of photos to bring to someone's place or to get prints made. If you use iPhoto's Burn Disc icon, you will get a disk with what looks like an iPhoto library of photos on the disc complete with thumbnail versions of the photos and actual size photos. This makes it confusing for those who try to open the CD and find you actual size photos. Here is how you get around this "feature" of iPhoto's

Burn a disc using the Finder instead of iPhoto.

1. Open iPhoto.

2. Select the Album(s) you wish to burn to disc.

3. Choose File > Export.
select

    4. Click the File Export tab.

    5. Choose a format from the Format pop-up menu. Note: Depending on the source of the images, you may want to select JPEG to ensure compatibility.
    6. Configure the Size and Name options that you want. Make sure the "Use extension" option is selected.
    7. Click Export.
    8. Select the folder (or create a new one) to save the exported photos to and click OK.

    9. Quit iPhoto when the export has completed.
    10. In the Finder, insert a blank CD-R disc.
    11. Drag the folder onto the CD-R disc's icon.
    12. When the files have finished copying, choose File > Burn Disc and click Burn.
