Top OS X Shortcuts

  1. Command-S (Save)
  2. Command-X (Cut)
  3. Command-C (Copy)
  4. Command-V (Paste)
  5. Command-A (Select All)
  6. Command-Q (Quit Application - DO NOT JUST CLICK THE RED X!)
  7. Command-P (Print)
  8. Command-W (Close Window)
  9. Command-Z (Undo)
  10. Command-Tab (Show and scroll through open applications - Click and hold Command, tap the Tab key and continue holding Command.  To scroll backword, click the Shift key)

In order to take a screenshot:

Click and hold Shift-Ctrl-Command with your left hand.  Press the 4 key with your right hand.  You will see the cursor change to a crosshair.  Select and drag the rectangular window you wish to capture.  When you release the mouse it will copy the picture to your clipboard which you can then paste (Command-V) into any application.
Note: If you want to create a file as opposed to copying it to the clipboard use Command-Shift and then press 4.  This will save picture to desktop.

Viewing Shortcuts - these are powerful (You may need to hold the Function key down as well)

Show all open windows:  F9
Show all open windows in current application: F10
Show Desktop: F11

Finder Shortcuts

Command-Shift-A (go to Applications Folder)
Command-Shift-U (go to Utilities Folder)
